What If The Pagan Is Right?
I Corithians
Introduction: I Cor. 1:18
For the message of the course is foolishness
a. The message of the cross is this:
(1) The death of Jesus on the cross for the sins of humanity
(2) The burial of Christ for the sake of humanity
(3) The resurrection of Christ for the redemption of humanity
b. What happens then if the pagan is right?
1. There is no resurrection of the dead
a. Christ was not raised from the dead
b. God's message is a bold lie
c. God's messengers are liars
d. Those who have believed the lie have a empty faith
2. There is no hope beyond the grave Let us eat and drink for tomorrow we die. I Cor. 15:32
a. Your faith is vain
b. Your hope is vain
c. Your life as a believer is vain
d. Preaching is vain
e. Church is vain
f. Good works are vain
Conclusion: But! I Cor. 1:18-25; I Cor. 15:57
a. The message of the cross is the power of salvation
b. The message of the cross is the power of God and the wisdom of God
c. The message of the cross is the hope of the believer
d. Pity those who died honorable deaths for such a foolish faith
e. But God gave them victory - I Cor. 15:57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
